The practice of manually cleaning human waste from toilets and open drains in many parts of South Asia is usually performed by Dalit groups at the bottom of the hierarchical caste system. Despite technological advancements, the practice continues to exist. Join us to hear Indian activist Bezwada Wilson shares his advocacy work and how the government, media, judiciary, and non-governmental organizations have the responsibility to abolish manual scavenging in India. Sponsored by EI Undergraduate Fellows.
