Session Description: LGBTQ+ Awareness and Advocacy Training is a 4-hour training designed to introduce LGBTQ+ terminology, issues, resources, and information. This training involves a combination of lecture, interactive activities, and discussion. Participants will learn how to practice effective allyship and advocacy, with complex intersections of identities at the forefront of your mind.
All participants may receive a sticker after completing the training and agreeing to be an advocate for all LGBTQ+ individuals. Faculty/Staff are invited (but not required) to put their sticker in a visible place within their office or on their office door. This training is typically offered once per semester.
All training sessions are for everyone (For LGBTQ+ folks looking to learn about their own community, and non-LGBTQ+ folks looking to learn how to be better allies). All levels of knowledge about LGBTQ+ issues are welcome. Please register on Engage Gettysburg at least one week prior to the training date. If you are not able to attend this one, the next available training date will be January 18th from 9 AM to 1 PM. Please email adelgaud@gettysburg.edu or gsrc@gettysburg.edu with any questions.
