"Tell Us Your Story: Supporting BIPOC College Student Mental Health"

University students are reporting higher levels of psychological distress than ever before, and student mental health concerns have been further worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has exacerbated existing inequities, impacting folxs at the margins, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) students. In this talk, I will discuss college counseling mental health trends and their implications for BIPOC students. Given the increase in mental health concerns, I will examine factors that impact BIPOC student mental health and review various initiatives and interventions aimed at supporting these students. Finally, I will discuss how the University of Pennsylvania's Counseling and Psychological Services is working to better serve students through a variety of programs aimed at supporting traditionally marginalized and underserved populations on campus.
