Most working settings are places of “difference”—in gender, race/ethnicity, national origin, language, culture, LGBTQ+, ability, religion and other—which creates for vibrancy of experiences but also for possible misunderstandings and serious conflicts. In this workshop-presentation, we will provide a general overview of the literature on cross-cultural communication— inclusive of why is it important and what are examples of breakdowns when not having effective cross-cultural communication. As part of the presentation, we will carry out three small group exercises, with a focus on skills development.
