Dear [FIRST_NAME],

\"\"

The Office of Multicultural Engagement promotes an inclusive campus culture, one where students are encouraged to engage through participation in initiatives and programs which stress the value of the breadth of backgrounds at Gettysburg College.

Through campus programming, student engagement, and Immersive experiances,  the office seeks to create distinctive opportunities for healthy discourse, allowing students to feel empowered sharing aspects of their own perspectives and experiences, which will benefit and strengthen understanding, collaboration, and personal growth.

Initiatives offered by the Office of Multicultural Engagement include:

  • One-on-One mentorship for first-year students.
  • Partnerships with campus services to support upper class students for internships and study abroad opportunities
  • Co-curricular programming with faculty to enhance critical study, thought, and reflection around issues of society, and lived experiences.
  • Social programming and off-campus trips
  • Supporting student groups in creating meaningful programs and events that enhance campus life.

๐Ÿš” What to Do If You Are Stopped by Someone You Believe Is Not a Law Enforcement Officer

If someone stops you and you are unsure whether they are a legitimate law enforcement officer, consider the following actions:

๐Ÿ” 1. Ask for Their Name and Badge Number

โœ… A real officer will always provide their name and badge number upon request.
๐Ÿ“ท Suggested Image: A police badge with a name and number visible.

๐Ÿ†” 2. Request to See Identification

๐Ÿš” If they are not in a clearly identifiable uniform, politely ask to see their official ID and badge. Take a moment to verify the details.
๐Ÿ‘ฎ‍โ™‚๏ธ Suggested Image: An officer displaying a badge and ID card.

๐Ÿš— 3. Observe Their Vehicle

๐Ÿšจ If the person is driving an unmarked or unfamiliar vehicle, ask what department they work for and request their name and badge number.
๐Ÿš˜ Suggested Image: A marked vs. unmarked police vehicle comparison.

๐Ÿ“ž 4. Request a Supervisor

๐Ÿ“ข If you feel uncertain or unsafe, ask to speak with a supervising officer. A legitimate officer will comply if a supervisor is available.
โ˜Ž๏ธ Suggested Image: A person making a call on their phone.

๐Ÿ“ฒ 5. Call 911 for Verification

๐Ÿ“ก If you are unsure of their identity, you have the right to call 911 to confirm if they are a legitimate officer. If there is no immediate safety concern, a real officer will allow this.
๐Ÿ“ž Suggested Image: Someone dialing 911 on their phone.

โš ๏ธ If you are approached or questioned by someone you suspect is not a law enforcement officer, report the incident as soon as possible to both the Gettysburg Police Department and Campus Safety.

Affirmation of the Week: Finals Edition ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ

"I am prepared, capable, and in control. I trust myself to finish strong."

Reflect: Finals week can bring pressure, but it's also a chance to show how far you’ve come. You've been doing the work—now is your time to shine. What do you need this week to feel centered, confident, and focused?

Act:
๐Ÿ“– Review with Intention – Focus on understanding, not perfection.
๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿพ‍โ™€๏ธ Protect Your Peace – Prioritize rest, healthy meals, and moments of calm.
๐Ÿค Lean on Your People – Reach out for support and encouragement when needed.

You’ve made it this far for a reason. Trust your journey and finish on your own terms. You’ve got this! โœจ

#FinalsFocus #YouAreReady #FinishStrong
