The Ensemble of Variable Geometry (EnVaGe), directed by Dr. César Leal,features students and faculty from the Sunderman Conservatory collaborating in a new interdisciplinary musical adventure.
"Once Upon a Time" is an artistic experience that deconstructs and recontextualizes gender stereotypes perpetuated through story telling, movement, and music.
This collaboration features dance, music, and video design. With visual projections designed by artist Thom Heyer and Rye Day and a choreography of Jeremy Dilworth. Join us as we re-imagine and perform a new video staged version of Schéherezade by Rimsky-Korsakov, Guaguancó by Guido López-Gavilán (Cuba), and Nocturno by composer Carreño (Colombia).
Professor César Leal will dedicate his EnVaGe ensemble debut concert on Saturday, March 26 (8:00 EDST) to Professor Kim. This musical initiative is exactly the type of innovation Professor Kim would have been involved in: experimental music-making, faculty-student collaborations, and student recruitment outreach. The performance will be live-streamed on the Conservatory YouTube channel so that friends, colleagues, and former students can attend in person or remotely.
