The 42-member Wind Symphony will perform music composed by John William "Buzz" Jones, professor of music emeritus. Eight college faculty members will collaborate as soloists with the ensemble on four compositions of varying styles.

A centerpiece of the concert is selections from the 2009 oratorio For the People, commissioned for the Abraham Lincoln bicentennial, with Susan Hochmiller, Jeffrey Fahnestock, and Matthew Osifchin as soloists. Elegy & Dance will feature horn player Abbey Jemison '24 and Steven Marx, flugelhorn. 1916, for soprano and a chamber ensemble of piano, clarinet, trumpet, and cello, is a setting of three early 20th century poems by Carl Sandburg, Robert Frost, and Florence Coates. Soloists are Steven Marx, flugelhorn, and Bret Crawford, soprano saxophone.
