Event Title: Gamelan Gita Semara performs a concert of Balinese music.
Organization: SUNDERMAN CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC

Founded in 2010 by Dr. Brent C. Talbot, Gamelan Gita Semara (meaning “beautiful sound”) is a Balinese gamelan angklung orchestra and the only one of its kind in Pennsylvania. Musicians perform more than twenty-five distinct types of music found on the island of Bali.  Traditionally, the music is played only for ceremonial and ritual functions, such as tooth filing ceremonies and cremations, but in the twentieth-century, newer styles of composition transferred into the gamelan anglkung repertoire.

Rain Location: Paul Recital Hall (room 222) in Schmucker Hall
