Join us on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 8:00pm for Take Back The Night. Take Back the Night is the oldest worldwide movement to stand against sexual violence. Starting in the late 1970s local groups of women organized public protests to reclaim the spaces where women felt unsafe, and in the 1980s Take Back The Night Events were common on campuses across the United States.

This year’s Take Back The Night event will start outside of Counseling Services where a brief history of Take Back The Night will be shared, before hearing from our on and off campus resources that provide support to survivors. Then a march through campus ending at the Silverstein Memorial, where Camille Traczek ’22 will share a few words before the survivor speak out and candlelight vigil to honor those who have lost their lives to sexual or relationship violence. Disclosures of sexual misconduct during this event (8pm-9:30pm) are not considered notice to Gettysburg College. This includes any disclosure during the Survivor Speak Out. Counseling Services and a Victim Services Advocate will be on site for those that need a confidential resource to speak to.
