The Office of Multicultural Engagement promotes an inclusive campus culture, one where students are encouraged to engage through participation in initiatives and programs which stress the value of the breadth of backgrounds at Gettysburg College.

Through campus programming, student engagement, and Immersive experiances,  the office seeks to create distinctive opportunities for healthy discourse, allowing students to feel empowered sharing aspects of their own perspectives and experiences, which will benefit and strengthen understanding, collaboration, and personal growth.

Initiatives offered by the Office of Multicultural Engagement include:

  • One-on-One mentorship for first-year students.
  • Partnerships with campus services to support upper class students for internships and study abroad opportunities
  • Co-curricular programming with faculty to enhance critical study, thought, and reflection around issues of society, and lived experiences.
  • Social programming and off-campus trips
  • Supporting student groups in creating meaningful programs and events that enhance campus life.

🚔 What to Do If You Are Stopped by Someone You Believe Is Not a Law Enforcement Officer

If someone stops you and you are unsure whether they are a legitimate law enforcement officer, consider the following actions:

🔍 1. Ask for Their Name and Badge Number

✅ A real officer will always provide their name and badge number upon request.
📷 Suggested Image: A police badge with a name and number visible.

🆔 2. Request to See Identification

🚔 If they are not in a clearly identifiable uniform, politely ask to see their official ID and badge. Take a moment to verify the details.
👮‍♂️ Suggested Image: An officer displaying a badge and ID card.

🚗 3. Observe Their Vehicle

🚨 If the person is driving an unmarked or unfamiliar vehicle, ask what department they work for and request their name and badge number.
🚘 Suggested Image: A marked vs. unmarked police vehicle comparison.

📞 4. Request a Supervisor

📢 If you feel uncertain or unsafe, ask to speak with a supervising officer. A legitimate officer will comply if a supervisor is available.
☎️ Suggested Image: A person making a call on their phone.

📲 5. Call 911 for Verification

📡 If you are unsure of their identity, you have the right to call 911 to confirm if they are a legitimate officer. If there is no immediate safety concern, a real officer will allow this.
📞 Suggested Image: Someone dialing 911 on their phone.

⚠️ If you are approached or questioned by someone you suspect is not a law enforcement officer, report the incident as soon as possible to both the Gettysburg Police Department and Campus Safety.

🔥 Weekly Affirmation:"Knuck If You Buck: Midterm Takeover Mode 🔥📚" 🔥

“We knuckin’, and buckin’, and ready to fight.”

— Crime Mob

Reflect: Midterms can feel like a real battle—stress, long nights, and countless notes. But just like Crime Mob’s hype anthem, you can harness that fiery energy and get ready to fight through every challenge. Ask yourself: How can I bring that “knuckin’ and buckin’” spirit into my study routine and my mindset?

Act: Channel the song’s hype:

  • Prep Your Strategy: Map out your study schedule, prioritize tasks, and tackle them one at a time.

  • Fuel Your Fire: Give yourself short breaks, stay hydrated, and remind yourself of the end goal.

  • Squad Up: Team up with friends for group study or mutual motivation—strength in numbers!

Remember: when midterms come knucking, you’re ready to fight for your success. Keep that momentum high and show these exams what you’re made of!

Las Muertes Más Bellas del Mundo tells a story of the Salvadoran diaspora’s struggles and humanity through the eyes of artists who fled El Salvador’s civil war in the 1980’s, landed in the nation’s capital, and created art out of war. The film follows a poet’s journey to find answers and healing through his writing of the title poem and interweaves the portraits of Salvadoran-Wachintonian artists, including a dancer, photographer, and musicians. Their voices and archival images tell a compelling, intimate, and historically-grounded story of a community resolving trauma and finding identity, salvation, and joy.
