From: Date: January 29, 2021 Subject: Activities During Testing Quarantine
Dear students of the residential cohort,
We are excited for the start of a new semester and to be welcoming you back to campus over the next few days! As you know, the coming week will be an important one as we conduct testing and set a baseline for our community’s health. The success of this week will be determined largely in part by your commitment to abiding by the quarantine protocols the College has put in place. We know you are eager to see campus and connect with friends, but the importance of staying in quarantine to protect the safety of our community cannot be emphasized enough.
While this quarantine is an important part of the College’s reopening plan, we also recognize the challenges it may present for some students. To help alleviate some of these, the College will be offering a variety of virtual programming throughout the week. The most up-to-date schedule of events can be found on engageGettysburg, but a few highlights of what will be offered can be found below. I also encourage you to visit our updated Virtual Activities page, where you can find things to do on your own and online activities you can do with friends.
Virtual Fitness Classes
Join members of the Campus Rec staff for live virtual workouts designed to be done from your residence hall room. Offerings will include yoga, circuit training, and Zumba. To reserve a spot in a class, please visit Campus Rec’s IMLeagues page.
Breathe Gettysburg
With activities ranging from moments of prayer and gratitude to yoga and meditative stretching, the Breathe Gettysburg program offers something for everyone. The most up-to-date schedule of events can be found by selecting Religious & Spiritual Life under the group menu on the calendar in engageGettysburg.
Throughout the week, the College will be sponsoring virtual events for students including Welcome Back Bingo, a virtual escape the room challenge, and Thursday night trivia. Grab and go activities such as a paint night will also be happening throughout the week. To learn more about these activities, please visit the events tab of engageGettysburg. You can also join programs directly by visiting the OSAGL Linktree or the RFYP Linktree.
As noted in my email yesterday, we are also committed to supporting student organizations and their efforts to provide safe and positive experiences for their members and the community during this time. We encourage organizations to start meeting virtually this week to connect with one another and begin planning for the semester. If you need help with planning or if you would like to start a new student organization, please contact the Office of Student Activities & Greek Life at osagl@gettysburg.edu.
Again, we are excited to have you back on campus and to connect with you through many opportunities throughout the semester. Together we can start the semester strong and set our community up for a successful spring. We look forward to seeing you at the virtual events this week and working with you to provide more programming and opportunities after the testing quarantine is over.
Sincerely,
Jon
