About Turkey Wrangling

Our names are John Battistelli and Andrew Lopez, and we are the co-philanthropy chairs for the Xi Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at Gettysburg College. We are reaching out for your support in our fall philanthropy project - the second annual Turkey Wrangling!

Every year, the South Central Community Action Programs (SCCAP) distributes turkeys to families who have visited their center over the calendar year. Last year, they anticipated over 700 people to arrive and this year, they are expecting even more! For our first Turkey Wrangling project, we were able to provide SCCAP with 100 turkeys, several flats of canned goods, and a check of approximately $1000 for SCCAP to allocate to various programs they offer for the local community. The expectation as to our involvement in their mission this year, set by the brothers ourselves, is that we simply exceed our involvement from last year.

Unfortunately, some technical issues caused us to be delayed in our start of the fundraiser, and thus we are going to be working extra diligently to ensure that we are still able to provide a meaningful amount of food and volunteer with plenty of brothers to efficiently distribute the turkeys on behalf of SCCAP.

Despite slight technical issues, we have already made decent progress on the goal in only one day of fundraising and tabling for the event, so we are feeling very optimistic in our ability to reach our goal. We would greatly appreciate any support from our brothers throughout the stages of this project. Please consider donating to our cause as a chapter or personal goal. The brothers of the Xi Chapter would be immensely grateful for your support.
