• How to Complete the Guided Pathways

    Over the course of your 4 years at Gettysburg College, in addition to meeting with your Co-Curricular Advisor at least once each semester, you will submit a minimum of 6 reflections in order to complete the Guided Pathways.

    Career Development Pathway (Required):

    1 Introductory reflection + 1 Exploratory reflection + 1 Consequential reflection = 3 reflections

    Your Pathway of Choice:

    1 Introductory reflection + 1 Exploratory reflection + 1 Consequential reflection = 3 reflections

    Choose from:

    Creativity, Entrepreneurship, & Innovation Pathway,  Justice & Community Change Pathway, Global Citizenship & Intercultural Fluency Pathway, and/or Leadership, Teamwork, & Collaboration Pathway

    = Total of 6 reflections

What are the Pathways?

Career Development Pathway

Introductory Experiences: Clarify values, interests, and skills. Research and identify career fields and opportunities for exploration.

Exploratory Experiences: Articulate transferable skills and the value of a Gettysburg liberal arts education. Develop and cultivate a professional network. Gain skills and exposure to diverse workplace cultures through experiential opportunities.

Consequential Experiences: Identify and activate relevant professional preparation tools, including professional networks, to secure fulfilling post-graduation work or education. Articulate and demonstrate the intercultural skills and competencies necessary to effectively navigate workplace situations and diverse professional networks.

Creativity, Entrepreneurship, & Innovation

Introductory Experiences: Experiment, individually or collaboratively, with the development of a creative work, product, or unique idea. Reflect on how diversity can contribute to creativity.

Exploratory Experiences: Contribute to the development of a creative work, product, or unique idea. Assess and articulate how the development can find an audience, fulfill a need, or positively impact communities.

Consequential Experiences: Lead the production of a creative work, unique idea, or product that positively impacts communities. Develop skills necessary for the promotion and public dissemination of the idea, creative work, or product.

Global Citizenship & Intercultural Fluency

Introductory Experiences: Learn about cultures different from one's own and reflect on one's own identity as a citizen of the world.

Exploratory Experiences: Identify and explain multiple cultural perspectives when exploring contemporary issues. Develop awareness of and sensitivity to the concerns of underrepresented peoples throughout the world.

Consequential Experiences: Articulate an understanding of multiple worldviews and experiences. Engage in meaningful interaction with other cultures to address global problems.

Justice & Community Change

Introductory Experiences: Discover opportunities for community action and describe how these actions can promote equity.

Exploratory Experiences: Engage in community action, with reflective insights about how that action promotes equity.

Consequential Experiences: Demonstrate team leadership in community action and help the team understand how it promotes equity.

Leadership, Teamwork, & Collaboration

Introductory Experiences: Contribute to a constructive team climate by sharing ideas, and demonstrating accountability. Engage with viewpoints different from one's own.

Exploratory Experiences: Help a team move forward by constructively building upon or synthesizing the ideas of others, and practicing group facilitation skills. Learn new ways of adapting and working with others.

Consequential Experiences: Manage a complex team, project, or organization from start to finish. Build interpersonal connections with students who are different from oneself.
